The mission of the Northeast Indiana Green Build Coalition is to promote green & sustainable living.

We will do this by leveraging committees to accomplish goals within our four guiding principles:

  • Collaborate - Leverage the strengths of other organizations to promote green & sustainable living for mutual benefit.
  • Advocate - Furthering the agenda of green & sustainable living.
  • Engage - Create an empowered membership who will drive positive, sustainable change.
  • Educate - Develop a knowledgeable community capable of making more sustainable decisions.


Collaboration Committee

1.
    
Continue to collaborate with local educational institutions on projects aligned with NEIGBC mission.
a.  Work with secondary and higher education schools in N.E. IN to add green tech to their building projects and programs.
b.  Community school recycling projects.
2.
    
Partner with similar organizations on at least one joint event per year, such as a joint membership drive and/or fundraising event.

Advocacy Committee

1.
    
Establish an activism arm of the NEIGBC to achieve and maintain legislative acceptance of sustainability in the State of Indiana.
a. Contact legislators annually to promote the mission and goals of NEIGBC.
b. Establish key government contacts, identify policy priorities, and engage the membership in lobbying/activism events.

Engagement Committee

1.
    
Hold an annual membership meeting to introduce new board members and to solicit programming ideas for the year.
2.  Create a program agenda that attracts, engages, and energizes stakeholders in our mission
a. Develop a regular schedule of events to be held each year. (Green Innovation Awards)
b. Create a series of educational sessions/workshops that meet the needs expressed by our membership and the community.

Education Committee

1.
    
Educate Northeast Indiana about how to live a more sustainable lifestyle both personally and professionally. 
a. Consult with individuals and businesses on issues of sustainability, such as construction and remodeling techniques and sustainable business practices.
2.
    
Attend and participate/exhibit at Local/Regional/National/International conferences, expos, and events.

Communication & Marketing Committee

1.
    
Establish brand penetration in the community and communicate the activities of the organization with key stakeholders. 
a. Prominently display the NEIGBC brand at educational events, projects, and other community interaction events.
b. Examine tools like brochures, handouts (sustainable bags, pens, recycled post-it notes with NEIGBC brand), fliers, and the website on an annual basis.
c. Consolidate existing websites and groups into a new NEIGBC web presence (and provide a directory of sustainable resources).
d. Promote NEIGBC through media (through press releases and by establishing key media contacts.)
e. Communicate with membership regularly

Executive Committee

1.
    
Leading by example to continually grow the organization and promote green and sustainable living.
a. Support and assist committees in goal achievement.
b. Lead recruiting efforts for the Board of Directors.
c. Lead the Board of Directors in analyzing goals and objectives annually.

Financial Development Committee

1.  Supporting the organization’s development by seeking and securing the funding required for successful programs and events.
a. Research, write, and obtain grant funds for NEIGBC to help sustain our mission.
b. Assist with finance aspects of other committee activities (i.e. obtaining sponsorships and determining event budgets).

Membership Committee

1.  Maintaining viability with a strong and growing membership.
a. Track membership and send renewal notices to individual and business members.
 b. Conduct an annual membership drive.
